Board Meeting Minutes

January 9^th, 2024

The regular monthly meeting of the Switzerland County Public Library Board of Trustees was held Tuesday, January 9^th, 2023 at 3:40 pm in the meeting room of the library. Attending were Diane Sigmon, Sharon Deck, Stacy Streett, Deborah Margison, Heather Peelman, and Emily Fox. Not attending were Mary Jane Rogers, Michelle Hicks, and Diana Barry.

Deck made a motion to approve the minutes of the previous board meeting, seconded by Sigmon and passed unanimously. Reports of library activity and technology activity were shared. Transits are still not up to speed. E-resources were the most circulated items in 2023, taking over from DVDs. A variety of in-house and outreach programs occurred in December, including cookie decorating and Grinchmas in the library and at the school.

Bills and claims were presented. Streett made a motion to approve the claims, seconded by Margison and passed unanimously.

New Business

The Internal Controls Policy was reviewed. No changes were made.

The Pest Policy was reviewed. Changes were made to address treatment of donations to reflect changes already implemented in other policies. Sigmon motioned to accept the changes, seconded by Deck and passed unanimously.

The library will be closed on Monday, January 15^th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Staff will have a short staff meeting before going out for a late holiday dinner.

Evergreen Indiana will have an update January 27^th-28^th so the library will be closed on the 27^th since staff will be unable to provide services. Announcements will be made on the website and social media soon.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
