May 8 public
The regular monthly meeting of the Switzerland County Public Library Board of Trustees was held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 3:50 pm in the meeting room of the library. Attending were Allan Bear, Denise Crawford, Sharon Deck, Lee Jaye Lohide, Debbie Margison, Mary Jane Rogers, Bruce Williams, and Shannon Phipps.
Deck made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 10th Executive Session, the May 2nd Executive Session and the April 10th public meeting, seconded by Crawford and passed unanimously. Reports of library activity and technology activity were shared. Bank reconciliation statements and the receipt listing were reviewed.
Bills and claims were presented. Crawford made a motion to approve the claims, seconded by Rogers and passed unanimously.
Time for Public Comments
There were none.
One quote to paint the roof was received from Jimmy Haynes of Tri State Painting and Pressure Washing for $10227.40. He provided references. Margison made a motion to accept the quote and hire him pending good references, seconded by Bear and passed unanimously.
Additional donations of $335 were received in memory of Claude Deaton. The building repair will be completed Wednesday. The glass company will return to replace the glass in the door, as it is not the right color.
Main Source and First Financial will merge on May 29th. Because our checking account number is a duplicate of one in First Financial, we will have a new account number. We will have to order new checks and change information for ACH transfers. The bank will reimburse us for the checks.
A reception will be held on May 11th from 1-4 for Mary Johnson who is retiring. Amber Garcia received a grant from the Vevay Switzerland County Foundation for $1500, from Women’s Giving Circle for $250 and $880 in other donations for the Summer Reading Program.
Phipps asked for permission to open at 1:00 on June 1st following a staff meeting. Crawford made a motion to do so, seconded by Deck and passed unanimously. Stephanie Furnish completed the 990 for the IRS and it will be mailed by the May 15th deadline.
With no further business, Williams moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:30 pm. Motion seconded by Deck and passed unanimously.
The next meeting will be June 12th at 3:30 pm.
