july 2017 minutes

The regular monthly meeting of the Switzerland County Public Library Board of Trustees was held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 3:30 pm in the meeting room of the library. Attending were Allan Bear, Denise Crawford, Diana Johnson, Mary Jane Rogers, Bruce Williams, and Shannon Phipps.  Not attending were Wanda Benzing and Sharon Deck.

Shannon asked that approval of the participation in the erate consortium for 2018-19 be added to the agenda. Crawford made a motion to add, seconded by Johnson and passed.

Crawford made a motion to approve the minutes of the June meeting, seconded by Rogers and passed. Reports of library activity and technology activity were shared. The Book Sale took in a little over $800 which was the best ever. Shannon commended Brett Ricketts for his efforts towards this. Wireless numbers have decreased since the town has wireless on Main Street. Bank reconciliation statements and the receipt listing were reviewed.

Bills and claims were presented. Johnson made a motion to approve the claims, seconded by Bear and passed.

Old Business

More patron surveys were reviewed.

Activities planned for the Anniversary celebration were reviewed.

New Business

The growth quotient for the 2018 budget year is 4%, which is higher than it has been in several years. Shannon presented a proposed budget for all funds for 2018. A 2% raise is again planned for staff. The representative from the Department of Local Government Finance will be at the Courthouse on August 21st to help complete budget forms.

A letter was received from the Indiana State Library stating that we were in compliance with standards in 2016. A resolution was presented to participate in the erate consortium for Internet service for July 2018-June 2019. Johnson made a motion to adopt, seconded by Bear and passed.

The August meeting will be held on Wednesday the 9th.

With no further business, Williams moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:10. Motion seconded by Rogers and passed.
