Time for Public Comments
There were none.
The questionnaire that was distributed last month was discussed for strategic planning. Input from staff and the public will be sought through surveys and meetings. Allan will decide on the process for the director’s evaluation to be completed by the end of the year.
A spreadsheet was shared showing Duke Energy bills from the past 3 years. It looks like we could be seeing a savings from the LED lighting but it is too early to tell. It will be interesting to see if there is a savings during the air conditioning season when we use more electricity.
A family had been returning DVDs with cockroaches. The cockroaches came out of movies onto the desk at check in on 2 separate occasions and then some DVDs were left in the book drop with cockroaches in the cases. All affected areas have been treated and the family has been asked to not check out items until they can bring proof of treatment.
The director was hoping to find an FFA student with an interest in horticulture who would be willing to plant and maintain our flower beds this summer. So far the person Mr. Curlin recommended has not shown an interest. Mary Jane recommended contacting the Extension Service to see if there is a Master Gardener who needs a location to complete his or her certification requirements.
Proposed changes to the Evergreen Indiana bylaws were presented which address the rejoining of the consortium after a library has left and the fees for leaving the consortium. Benzing made a motion to approve the bylaw changes, seconded by Johnson and passed.
Shannon will be on medical leave April 13th. A writing group is being started by a patron, Suzanne Rines, and will meet April 22nd. The library is hosting a plant exchange on May 6th. With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:05 pm.
The next meeting will be May 9th at 3:30 pm.
